    Bordeaux to Paris - 6th-13th August 2010

Well, its that time again. The boys and girls of the Midlife Cyclists are once again risking their rears and as of Sunday 6th August begin the epic voyage!

An advance party arrives in Bordeaux on Friday, with those with proper jobs turning up late on Saturday.

After assembling whatever has been left of our bikes after shipping them in boxes through French baggage handlers, and a cheeky beer late on Saturday evening we will rest like Pros, ready to begin DAY 1 on the Sunday morning, assuming we can wake the Wilcocks.

Three things we need you to do:

    1. leave lots of encouraging (or disparaging) comments on our website
    2. donate a few quid via the justgiving link on our main page
    3. keep an eye on our progress by visiting the site regularly and checking our Bordeaux-Paris route pages

    Chapeau, fellow Pistards!

PS Those that want a little competition should try to guess how many left over components we have once assembly is "complete".

    And They're Off..!

The planning has officially begun! The midlife Cyclists will be out on the road again, doing another "biggie" in 2010. The logistics team have now met to work out exactly how to get Derek out of bed on Day 3, and if this major challenge can be surmounted, how on earth we get the newly-extended team to complete one of the true French "Classics", only backwards - starting in Bordeaux and ending up on the Champs Elysees - a trip of circa 635 kilometres!

Mike, wheres that Sudocrem and did you trim your fingernails this time?

    More plans awheel...

Latest update is that the team did manage to turn a wheel again this year and entered the following organised rides:

    Manchester-Liverpool (31 May 09)

    Manchester-Blackpool (12 Jul 09)

    The Manchester 100km (06 Sep 2009)

    Midlife Cyclists

    We made it!

    Brandenburg Gate

After a hot 84 miles on Wednesday (our first fully dry day), we arrived at the Brandenburg Gate to be greeted by friends and family (and Barack Obama, actually). A cold beer or three followed soon after.

Apologies for the late revision of the website but a combined lack of internet access, energy and time has meant that I'm only just able to update a few sections. As I write this, our trusty bus (I hope) is meandering through Germany and Holland on its way back home.

Please keep visiting our site to catch up on our adventure. Over the coming days, we will be uploading individual blogs and photos of our adventures. Thanks though to all of you who have been sending messages of support and donations - we really enjoyed reading them as we travelled along.

Please continue to check out the News & Guestbook pages if you would like to submit information or comments.

Most importantly however, you can now donate online and sponsor our efforts!

Please check back regularly for updates.
